What exactly is the VESA acronym?
The VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) defines mounting configurations for flat-screen televisions and monitors. A majority of flat-screen television and monitor manufacturers are using the VESA mounting pattern. TVs with VESA compatibility feature four holes at the back (two on the top and two on the below) to attach a VESA-compliant bracket that is designed to fit the VESA mount pattern.

Wall Mounts that tilt
Tilting brackets provide the best compatibility and do not require any modifications to connect any flat-screen television or monitor that is compatible with VESA mounts.
- This product is compatible with LCD, Plasma, LED, OLED flat-screen and curved-screen televisions.
- Suitable for any flat surface - Plaster, drywall and wooden studs, drywall and metal studs (interior and exterior wall). Brick, concrete, tiled walls, and so on.
- In the majority of cases, Lateral Shift makes it easy to center the TV wherever you want it (ability to move the TV to the left and right on the wall plate)
- The majority of tilting TV wall mounts we sell have sufficient clearance between the back and wall (between 2'’ and 3.1 inches, depending on the model) and allow for a be able to reach behind the TV to allow cable management and connection.
- The TV can be tilted down when it is set over a fireplace.
- If you need to replace wiring, you may tilt the TV up (on the majority of models we sell) to create more space and access the cable connections on the rear of the TV , without needing to take it off.
- Extra-wide wall plates are available to support the mounting of heavy televisions. Extra-wide wall plates enable you to reach three 16-inch apart studs for a total distance 32 inches.
- It can be used with a component wall shelf to cover any cable slacks behind your TV. This will give you a cleaner look and finish.
- The wiring behind the TV is easy to set up and maintain.
Cons:
- It stands out a bit higher than Super Slim / Low-profile TV wall mounts. However, that's a reasonable trade-off for all the other advantages.
- It can't rotate either way.
- It tilts the TV upward and downward, and it also "Pops Out" at 5.7 inches, which makes it easier to reach behind the television. If you're trying to reach the wires behind a large 90-inch TV, for example, the pop-out feature comes in handy. The pop-out feature is also useful in the event that the power outlet is located right in the middle of the TV. This makes it hard to get the outlet and disconnect the power cord.
- Even on extremely heavy 90-inch TVs, tilting can be effortless.
- This mount is classified as a tilting wall mount however it does have an incline that is slightly to left and right.
- A large cut-out on the inside section of the wall plate allowing it to be used to cover an electrical outlet or cable jack for instance.
- Micro-level adjustment feature lets you alter the level of your TV once it's installed to the wall.
- TV Wall Mounts with Full Motion
Two varieties of Full Motion TV Wall Mounts are available.
- For smaller TVs for smaller TVs, Full Motion Wall Mount with Single Stud Mounting
- Full Motion Wall Mount with Double Studs to support larger TVs
This particular example is based on the SKU 1281. The articulating bracket is joined to a single stud, allowing for smaller and lighter TVs to be used.
Full Motion Wall Mount with Single Stud Mounting
Our SKU 1291 Full Motion Wall Mount is used in the example below. This wall mount can be mounted on two 16-inch On-Center studs. This double stud mount can clearly support more weight than a single stud mount, making it the ideal choice for mounting heavier and larger televisions.
As you can see the wall plate of this bracket is significantly shorter than the Tilt wall mount bracket that was shown previously (which is the norm for a full motion mount). It's important to note that this mount isn't alone one with a narrow wall plate. The majority of full motion mounts have small wall plates and are built to be affixed to studs that are spaced not over 16 inches off the centre. There are just a handful of models available that allow stud spacing of as much as 24 inches in centre.
The wall plate of most Full Motion Wall Mounts is just large enough to fit onto two 16-inch studs "apart-on-center" is a word which translates to "apart from the center."
Pros:
- Swivel to the left and then to the left
- Suitable for LCD, Plasma, LED, OLED flat and curving screen televisions.
- When you don't need your TV swivelled in an angle, it folds into the wall which is ideal for installing in large rooms or in an area that is corner.
- Some models rotate up to 180 degrees.
- A lot of the models we have available can be tilted down or up.
- You can reach the cable connections on the rear of your television by removing it from the wall.
Cons:
- Due to the thin wall plate design, there is a limitation.
- Most people won't find it easy to put the TV in the correct center location. This depends on where your studs are located. It is not recommended to be installed on walls that are narrow or above the fireplace.
- Most of the time full motion mounts weigh more than other kinds of mounts. They also stick out more.
- While the normal spacing for studs is 16 inches across the center, it's not typical to see the spacing of studs to be greater than 16 inches, particularly when the wall is joined by an adjacent wall perpendicularly. There are only a few full motion mounts on the market that can be installed on studs spaced 24 " apart.
- Televisions that are heavy should not be mounted on drywalls with metal studs, or on the majority of plaster exterior walls in older homes and structures.
- Do you want to put your TV on top of the fireplace? The location of the studs will determine the possibility to centre your TV above the fireplace.
Utilize the Full Motion Wall Mount for the TV's Centering
For mounting a full motion set-top over your fireplace, first find out where the studs will be. This will enable you to determine the possibility of having your TV aligned over them. There is a very slim chance that the studs are exactly where you want them to be in order for your TV to go on your wall.
